My cat ate a mouse! Does she need to see the vet?

OP, I thought your title was "My cat ate MY mouse!" and I was about to offer empathy. That happened to me and it was just awful.

Our dog gulped down an entire nest of baby rabbits in less time than it’s taken me to write this sentence.

My DH put garden gloves on and removed it from her mouth and threw it outside; he said it was still alive - he could feel it moving in his hands. My cat has no teeth except for three canines so I doubt she punctured it’s skin. I emailed the vet and am waiting for a response but googled it in the meantime. I’m just wondering if there’s anything I need to do - wash my cat, take her to the vet, etc.

My cat loves to give kisses so I will avoid that for a while, haha. Gross! I will also call Ternminix!

Cats are stone-cold, relentless killers. If they were like 20 pounds they would be too dangerous to keep in the house. She’s just doing her thing.

+1. If housecats were the size of the average dog, no one would leave their homes without a firearm on their person at all times.

I literally got my first cat because I lived in an apartment building with mice. But psychopath that he was, he played with them first.

My little terrier as a kid would kill any rodent in her domain. She was of a ratting fog breed so it made sense. She'd shake them and kill them fast.

Yeah my dog is a straight up squirrel killer.

I mean, obviously unless they've been fed poison, mice and other small mammals are a balanced diet for a cat and probably healthier than many commercial cat foods.

If the cat punctured the mouse's skin, the mouse is a goner. Probably most humane next time to dispatch the mouse quickly rather than put it outside to die a slow, lingering death from infection. Cats have disgusting, germy mouths -- please don't let your cat lick you anywhere near your face. And a cat bite is a genuine get to the doctor and get heavy antibiotics ASAP situation.
