Freshman orchestra trip to Disney for 3-4 days

A 24 hour NYC trip for the theatre students at our HS is about 450-500$.. the upperclassmen do a two night trip with six shows....I'm guessing $12-1500? All out of pocket.

You should be asking who exactly would be responsible for their safety? And how well do you know and trust them?

Getting high, alcohol and hooking up should be your concern, even if your kid seems immune to such things.

Do band kids engage in that type of behavior?!

I was in high school in the late 80's and yes they do. We had a bunch of seniors who were suspended after they had been out drinking on a band/choir trip. It was in Canada and they were actually of age but the agreement that every one signed was that there would be no drinking alcohol because it was a a school trip. The kids ended up missing the Prom. I took a couple of over seas trips with school groups and there was a lot of drinking. Hell, a few of the chaperone's lead the drinking on one trip. I will say that my town and school was known to have a huge problem with alcohol and drugs that all the adults ignored. My parents allowed me to go because they trusted me and because they promised holy hell if the Teachers who were not idiots reported I had been anything but well behaved and sober the entire time.

I did not drink and I had a great time. It was easy enough to hang out with the kids not drinking and to leave the rest to the Teachers. Those trips were some of my best experiences in high school but I am not going to say that everyone was perfectly well behaved because, well, they were not.
