Class of 2022 and FCPS if that's helpful. I thought W&M was a reach for her, but looking at ED acceptance stats, it was more like a high target. It would definitely have been a reach in regular admissions. Friends with slightly higher stats from her HS are attending UVA and VT (EA admissions) and a couple are going to W&M. I don't think these are impossible for your DD if she can get the score up and is willing to apply to one of them ED. W&M loves strong essays (and the "optional" one is not really optional!), so if she's a strong writer, that could help too. W&M has ED 2, so she could try for VT or UVA ED 1 and then W&M ED 2 if needed, depending on her preferences. Good luck! |
W&M REALLY likes ED. Not so secret tip for everyone. I don't personally know anyone who did ED there who didn't get in, though that is clearly a small sample size but it did include people who were lower in stats than i'd expected. but back to the PP's point about scores, my DS scored a 1280 on his first SAT summer before junior year, took it twice more an ended up with a 1390 super score and got into UVA... so yes that 100 its makes a huge difference and opens alot of doors. I'd argue the jump from 1200s to 1300s is more important than from 1400s to 1500s. |
