I work five-and-a-half days per week.

No point. Just wondering who else works like this.

Every teacher.

I don’t! Seven hour days and nothing on weekends!

Same here. I teach 3rd in public school.

I know both of you realize you are in fortunate situations.

Not, but they’d like you to think they do.

LOL, this teacher just finished up her work on this Sunday.

OP, I would say it’s not unusual for salaried employees to work long hours. The question is, do you mind it, given your pay and benefits.

You’ve never heard of lawyers, investment bankers, accountants…? 50 hours isn’t even that much. When I was at a Big 4, we were expected to work 70-80+ hours during “busy season”.

You’re both kidding, right? Stop gazing at your own navel and look around.

I have no clue what you’re talking about.

+1. Which part sounded like a joke?

The part about working so hard and wondering who works as hard as you.

Do you know a farmer? A front line fast food cook? A hospice carer? Or wait staff or a retail salesperson, esp one with more than one job to make ends meet?

And outside the rich nations? Please.

Too bad you aren’t smart enough to get this gig for yourself.

HAHAHAHA! Some, maybe, but the vast majority are working more than 40 easy. My DH probably has 30 hours worth of meetings in a week alone.

Don’t feed it.

Me too. I'm a teacher and my side gigs are on the weekends. So it's probably equal to 6 days per week. On the 7th day, I plan for the week. That takes at least 3-4 hrs.

Hell no.

I try and keep my working hours under 40. In busy periods, maybe 42-43.

I’m a teacher (hs) and have lots of experience. But at the end of the day, my kids matter too.

Meetings in which they schedule additional meetings. "Work."

Same here and HS math. There may be a couple of weekend a year where I’m behind and spend a few hours grading but that’s rare now.

It’s personality. Some in my department stay until 6 every day and come in on the weekend and then complain about how much they work. They don’t use their time effectively and create a lot of busy work.

I work 3 12s. Can pick up more if needed. Work my butt off during my shift but when I clock out, I’m done. It’s awesome.

OP here. Same salary if I worked forty hours a week but I am relatively well paid in my profession.

How much?

Anonymous wrote:I work nine hours a day at least during the week and then another full half-day (about five hours) on Sunday.

Anyone else? On Sundays I work from home.

Normal for a lawyer and programmers and small business owners and lots of professionals.

Truth. Getting that much would be a miracle.
