OP here. Yes, my best friend's brother died of non-alcohol related cirrhosis. He was sick for about a month and it was a horrible death. I hate that her family has to go through this.


op I am so sorry for your loss of your friend. Just curious how does one get non-alcohol related cirrhosis?

NP. Lots of possibilities: viral hepatitis, recurrent heart failure, autoimmune hepatitis, hemochromatosis, bile duct disease, cystic fibrosis, Wilson's disease, alpha-one antitrypsin deficiency, etc.
