how crazy are things at DCA?

We just traveled internationally from DCA through Miami and it was 100% treated AS an international flight! Unless you’re taking the trip on two different days, can you clarify? If you get in the domestic line and it’s international, you are screwed!

We had a 2pm flight out of dca this Tuesday. Parking took extra time (hourly garage), and TSA line was longer than usual. I always arrive early and just hang out in the AA lounge.

My flight was on time. No issues.

Fwiw, we’ve flown out of Philly before for cheaper direct flights, and we’ve discovered it’s just as easy to drive to Philly.

Post-security redesign, DCA is actually pretty roomy and not so painful to be in for any longer than you have to. I haven't had any issues since Christmas when the line at the United counter (next to the security line) was long.

Different airport, but I flew out of IAD last week and upon return, walking to my car in Daily Parking felt like Tysons at Christmas with someone trailing me to my car and asking if I was leaving...

Yup. If you get a couple of flights delayed it really gets jammed in there.

For sure, and it's the Southwest terminal, which only makes it more of a mess. But since OP is flying internationally and connecting through PHL, I assume American.
