+1, note to OP—invest in some grammar.

I love our house, but there is no good way to renovate for a 1st floor bedroom with an attached full bath. I hope to stay as long as we can and then move to a 1 level condo near one of my kids.

I have no desire to stay in this area long term. We’re only here for DH’s job. We’ll stay here until he retires, at which point we’ll move to Maine or maybe somewhere close to where our daughter settles.

DH and I are well into middle age. We bought our "forever home" in 2020 (not the DMV). I say "forever home" only because you never know what life will send your way, so we always stay open and flexible - but our current home is our literal dream home and dream location so it's going to be hard to top it. It's not too large, not too small - yet spacious and walkable to almost everything that's important to us. We have one who is grown and flown. One who is hobbling along.

We will have free breakfast, free happy hour, free house keeping, free toiletaries, towels, bed linens and complimentary coffee and tea. We will not need any appliance, no utilities and also have a full kitchen and fridge where we can stash food from the breakfast buffet.

We will have access to the swimming pool, gym, washer-dryer, and we can make friends with others like us who retire in Marriott or similar hotel chains or live in cruise ships.

We will be able to host our grandkids in disney and other vacation spots and best of all we won't have to maintain a house. We can join our kids in their vacations as long as there is a marriott. We have a generous retirement and pension plan.

Wait is that something you can actually do?

Yes. There are people who live in hotels and cruises. It is a lifestyle they enjoy. See the youtube video about "Super Mario" who has lived in cruise ships for 20 years.
