if you’re back at the office, what the heck are you wearing to work?

My boss wore shorts the other day, so I think we are officially in "anything goes" land. I only go in once a week, and I wear a dress, though the casual Old Navy kind. None of my pants from Before Times fit.

(I work for an outdoorsy gov agency)

I have a bunch of dresses in simple silhouettes in neutral colors (black, cream, navy). I have a bunch of cardigans and blazers to pop on top (bc AC is blaring). I have a pair of black flats and a pair of "nude" slingbacks with a kitten heel. A few pieces of simple gold jewelry. A black leather tote bag. Done.

I go to my office three days a week, and I probably wear a dress once, dress pants once, and jeans once. Things are definitely a little more casual but there hasn't been a massive shift at my company. It's OK. I have all these dress clothes ... might as well wear them!

I am wearing regular professional work clothes. I am not going more casual. We have business casual, but not jeans or yoga pants, etc.

Also I’m 5’5 and 140lb. Hardly a unique American woman’s size but you know what I definitely know does not look good on me in the office? A ankle-length, floral print prairie dress with puff sleeves. Or wide-leg pants that highlight my bare waist. Or mini dresses that look like I’m trying to be my 14 year old daughter.

Please go back to normal, fashion.

Totally agree. I'm similarly shape and it is really, really hard to find appropriate office wear right now AND everything I do like is sold out everywhere, so clearly you and I are not alone.

+1 I know there are more of us out there. Why don’t the stores carry clothes for us? I also hate online shopping. 😞

Nothing I wore before really fits, uggghhh. I work for a non profit and pretty much live in scoop necked pima tees and jeans, and for a fancy meeting I’ll put on a scarf and cardigan. I have some “dress pants” that are just stretchy ponte trousers from Talbots. I wish I could find new ones like those.

Simple dresses without ruffles, tiers and puffy sleeves. Dark pants and a blouse or shell. I did have to buy a lot of new clothes (dropped 4 or 5 sizes) and it was sometimes rough to find these things. I ended up buying a few things here and there seem to have enough clothes for now although I ended up with some random stuff that doesn't seem to go with anything else. At least it's not poofy!

I work in a federal office where people teleworked 80% of the tie before the pandemic. People are not really buying a whole new fashionable wardrobe every season. In the before times, I had outfits that I had worn regularly for several years and I was not alone. No one cares.

I have been getting by with some of my old stuff, but it was getting dated before the pandemic. I have a few meetings coming up where I need to step up my game, so I ventured into the malls. I found two dent blazers at macys. You really, ready have to hunt. Most of it is casual wear. It is probably not trendy, but not horrible either.

I’d probably wear those yoga pants that are made to look like work pants.
