FCPS vs LCPS School Year 2022-2023

Kids don't need 2 1/2 months of vacation time. It hard on working parents, tough on teachers (1st month back is spent reviewing previous year content.). How many camps do kids need to attend? how many hours do kids need to be home alone? How many hour of electronic time do kids/teens need in the summer? etc.

Also so many kids do nothing all summer because they cannot afford vacation or camps.

It’s not lazy but policy shouldn’t be guided by the well off and their wants vs. the needs of kids and other families.

They do a survey EVERY year. Long summers are always top of the list.

You sound jealous. Sorry you don’t like summer. Deal with it.

I actually love summer. I can’t just take the whole thing off because I work. Like most people. But it makes no difference if it starts/ends few weeks early/late for our family. But I can put myself in other people’s shoes and understand different people have different needs. But I know that’s hard for some people who are a bit more concrete plus can’t think of anyone but themselves. And you can still travel and relax with 6 weeks of summer.
