So confused about Covid travel requirements

I legit looked up flights from Lima, Peru to Toronto if the worst, worst case happens on my trip.

I’m so sick of this BS policy. This is a major fail by Biden.

Problem of course is that most routings on that route will stop in the US- places like Dallas or Miami or Atlanta. So would still have the requirement on a flight like that. Only option would probably be something like Air Canada, or Aeromexico connecting in Mexico City.

It was put in place about a week before Trump's term ended. Vaccines were available by then, but were still pretty limited. That was when the Alpha surge was happening in the UK, which then arrived shortly after in the US.

In early December 2021 the CDC shortened the testing timeframe to one calendar day from three, as Omicron was becoming more apparent.

So almost 6 months on, seems like this policy needs a re-visit.
Are there any numbers about how many people this is actually keeping out of the country? It seem like just a huge money maker for the testing companies.

I was just coming here to say this. I just wasted $180 on emed tests to take with us this summer so that we can test before reentering the US. What a stupid waste of money for a fully vaccinated family.

Aren't you purchasing them a bit prematurely if you're not going until the Summer? It's possible they may drop the testing by then.

Also, isn't the emed $150 for six? Did the price go up?

We’re leaving for a summer international trip on June 4. So, yes, I need to buy tests for 6 now. (Still hoping we won’t need the for re-entry).

They threw in a $21 shipping fee (plus taxes) at the very end that I wasn’t even aware of until I got my confirmation. These companies are definitely raking it in. And we leave in early June so I needed to order them now.

Ha - same exact situation!

I had Covid 2 weeks ago. Received a note from my doctor detailing the positive result and my recovery 10 days later and that ALSO works for reentry - no test needed.

Note this only works for a 90 day period after the positive test. Also you should have the positive test document also. That option requires the two documents- positive test AND the doctors letter certifying recovery.
