14:41 here. I didn't get that impression from KIPP. I believe the school is quite challenging and for those who can't keep up usually end up leaving. I have a friend who has one in KIPP (middle school) who receives straight As and one who could not keep up with the demands of the program, so was withdrawn and transferred to another school. Also, the Saturday school for the younger ones is just once a month and requires one parent to attend while the older middle students have both academic and extracurricular activities offered on Saturdays.

I would be thrilled for my ds to get into KIPP's elementary school. I think it's just the push he needs since he's the type who finishes early, then becomes bored and slightly disruptive (so I'm told by his current teacher). He brought home a worksheet one day last week and before I had a chance to read the instructions to him, he was already finished. Unlike what I saw at KIPP during the Open House where the teacher had a small group of children in a reading group working with them, my ds is just sent to a higher grade classroom for language arts. I'm not 100% comfortable with that, but it's better than nothing.

We did something crazy. My husband & I would drive kid to school -- bring the car back home & then ride the bus to work. It worked for us.

I do this now, but our charter is less than 2 miles from home, but in the opposite direction from work.
