Lol; why so many questions? I’m not that poster but my DH is 49 and has been veg his whole life. His parents were veg so naturally he was raised veg. We are also raising our kids veg. |
Really? I find the Dandies and TJ’s marshmallows are the same as real. |
NP, but yeah, this is me as well. Raised vegetarian by vegetarian parents and have been vegetarian all my life (50 years). I do not like faux meat and do not ever plan on eating meat or fish. This is not at all uncommon among brahmins of South India... |

Veg for 40 years - though I do sometimes eat fish (starting about 15 years ago). I don't miss meat one bit - but what I do sometimes regret is how eating in other countries is sometimes less a matter of pleasure and more a matter of what I can be sure doesn't have meat in it.
So I have zero desire to go eat a steak - if I wanted to do that, I would do it - but I think the first meat I'd eat is whatever someone put in front of me in Japan or France or wherever, and experience the pleasure of not having to worry about it. |
| Veg in the US, but have happily eaten local cuisines that contain fish or meat when traveling abroad -- e.g., sushi in Japan. |
Ever heard of a country named India?

NP, my parents forced meat on me and didn’t expose me to enough vegetarian food. Luckily I figured out early on that a vegetarian diet was right for me. It’s all a matter of perspective. |
| Approximately 20 years of vegetarian and then pescatarian. When my youngest was born I really started craving meat again for some reason, especially fried or grilled chicken. Still don’t eat a lot but just didn’t feel like I had to be an absolutist anymore. It’s helped with Neal planning with the kids to have a couple go to dinners w/meat. |
Yes I hear you on international travel- I was always getting unnecessarily stressed out. Actually I think the first meat I had had in years was in Vietnam. Lots of veg or quasi-veg options around the country but we were in a rural area at a random pho place and hungry and I ate whatever was in that bowl set in front of me.

Sorry if I was being intrusive (I'm the OP with all the questions). I guess the thing I was more curious about why you'd choose bacon if you've never eaten meat in your life. |
| I’m vegetarian not vegan for almost 30 years. I don’t crave meat. My whole family eats meat. |
I’m that poster. The smell of bacon is delightful whenever the rest of my family sits down to weekend breakfast! |
Does your DD eat beans/legumes? DS HATES meat, the only kind he will tolerate is chicken nuggets, pasta with ground meat sauce, hot dog. I tell him I don't care if he's vegetarian, but he at least needs to eat beans but he doesn't really like those either..... |
Have you tried tofu - bake or air fry it with a bit of garlic, salt, onion powder or what ever he'll eat. Easy. It reheats well too. |
