Best car for 16yo

DS17 drove our 2011 hail totaled Toyota Sienna AWD minivan. And then I “borrowed” it one day and really totaled it.

We have a 17 year old Toyota and a 12 year old Mazda.

Kid is free to use either.

In 1992, my brother wrapped a 1965 Mustang around a tree. He and his friend who were in the passenger seat walked away. The police said the only reason they walked away without a scratch was the 65 mustang was all metal.

But - the difference today in weight between a car the is 10 years old and a new car is relatively small.
There is a difference in weight between a mini and a SUV - but as long as you are looking at same car class the changes are not that big.

Age was not the key there...go bigger and older(used) rather than small and new for the same price

We’ll likely get DS a Tiguan. This, or, he’ll get my 5 year old Q7 and I’ll get a new car.

We thought about giving our teen my 5yr old Q7, but the Q7 takes premium gas (and is very expensive to maintain) so I feel like it will be a $ burden on our teen.
