What are the no-cut teams at local Virginia high schools?

As someone mentioned, no cut doesn't mean that they will compete in all the meets. For CC, for example, only fastest runners compete at Sat meets but everyone can compete at weekday meets. There are other sports that are pretty easy to make the team, depending on school. I think almost everyone makes freshman football. Basketball is tough at all the schools. Baseball is easier at Wakefield. Yorktown is probably hardest to make for all sports

Crew at Yorktown does have cuts.

Do they have a no-cut freshman team?

All teams have cuts. They can only have as many kids as the seats in the boats allow (plus a few alternates). The number of coaches is also taken into account. They can't have more kids on the water than they can safely manage.

Maybe it’s different at W-L but I believe (based on friends’ kids) that the freshman team has been no cuts. Maybe there is just low demand? Also, they can just run down to the boathouse.

At Yorktown, cross country and track are no-cut sports. Pre-covid, swimming was no cut (but only kids on competitive winter swim teams swam at meets). In various years, some teams like field hockey, golf, or tennis had no cuts unless too many kids tried out. Soccer is intensely competitive (like 500 kids trying out for 12 slots)

Swimming is highly competitive at Robo.

Crew is a no cut sport there too.

Crew is no cut at Robinson but not all kids race. There are only so many seats in the boat. Football is also no cut there but not everyone plays in the games. Baseball is very competitive at Robinson, very few freshman make the team.

Freshman football does make cuts especially in cases of bad attitude or behavior

Do some research before buying here for the sports. It’s a very small district and that’s why it’s a lot easier to make the teams. That’s good. They don’t compete with a lot of local schools and spend a significant amount of time traveling. Make sure you are okay with their IB program and standards based grading.

Otherwise, you have lots of other options where your kids could participate even if it’s not on the school team. We are an area filled with rec and club sports.

Sure but ref and club teams aren’t with your school friends and require the parents to drive them all over the place.

Why can’t the counties invest enough resources to have sufficiently small schools so they can offer more options than frisbee and running FFS.

The only school choice is Meridian, because the big counties are too big to manage correctly and grew too fast (current temporary enrollment drops excluded)

There are cuts for cross country. 2 miles in 14 minutes to make it.

Yorktown Tennis isn't very competitive. If you have any sort of athletic ability, you will make the team.

Our high school in FCPS has varsity, jv, and freshman field hockey, and I believe there are no cuts for freshman field hockey.

+1
I went to a school where almost anyone could make a sports team because they needed players. It was great to have so many options.
