How do you feel about families who have it so easy?

This. I've nannied for many wealthy families and it's not all what it seems. I always felt sad for the kids because they never really seemed that attached to their parents because their parents were never their caregivers. The nannies were.

I'm too busy focusing on my own family to think about them.

Just came out the husband was cheating with the babysitter in 2016 and had an affair with a designer in 2021. Wife still stuck around like a chump.

All that to say - you have no idea who you're really envying.

Who are they?

Influential Mega-church pastors - Carl Lentz and his wife

I would be judging these pastors for the amount of skin wife is flashing and low cut dresses on the young girls.

It's basically the Gemstones. Which if you haven't seen on HBO is hilarious.

I'm not going to complain to anyone about my life because it's not like I'm living paycheck to paycheck.

That said, my professional life has been incredibly stressful and I've been screwed out of pay more times than seems feasible.

My personal life has been equally stressful. Special medical needs child, domestic violence, cheated on, and now have a wonderful spouse that gets deployed.

Most recently, I lost a very wanted baby boy and now we can't seem to get pregnant again. It's devastating. But if you see our cool pictures from our Disney trip you'd have no idea how rough things are at the moment.

Yes, this is pretty much how I feel! I'm no looker, am divorced and live in an apt but I think me and my dds are awesome If another family looks good and has money, that's nice for them!

To use an Easter metaphor, everyone has their cross to bear, very true. But some people get a plywood cross they need to carry a half mile on a flat road on a mild spring day. And some people have to carry a solid metal cross with spikes uphill for miles in the blazing heat or downpours. And some people have one cross after another.

That's just life. Fairness has nothing to do with it. And it's okay for those with the solid metal cross or the multiple crosses to sometimes feel sad about not having it easier.

I personally don't like knowing that others use my life as an example of "there but before the grace of God go I," in order to make themselves feel better about their own situation, so i choose not to think about all those who have it worse than me to make me feel better. Instead I just recognize that sometimes life sucks. And sometimes it's great. And I hold on to the great moments to get me through the worst.

+1.

I can think of many, many people that I am better off than. It only makes sense that some people have it better than I do.

100% this. And the way I feel about it is damn lucky for what I do have.

Yes to the rich part. I saw a law school colleague mention he made partner and I had an actual dream of being married to him and having so much money and planning a vacation for my kiddos.
But grandparents house will have to do.

I feel we have it pretty easy. Not easy in the wealth department, although we are financially comfortable, but life is easy. Many of my friends have a lot of stress in their life or worrisome issues with their children, and I feel quite lucky that everything is just EASY for us. We all get along, we laugh, things roll off our shoulders.

However it is only a matter of time. People die, there are accidents, unforeseen events. So enjoy it while you have it because life IS crazy. And you can’t escape it.

I don't think that most people who are athletic and rich have it "easy". Being in shape takes work. I'm thin but I am not in shape/athletic. And its because I'm lazy and don't want to put the work in. Even good looking generally takes some work. I'm attractive but I refuse to spend a lot of time and money on hair and makeup, etc. I just don't care enough.

Rich may be a different story--you can inherit money but at some point, someone worked really hard for that money. Anyone can have money if they are willing to put the time and effort in. You just have to prioritize that and be willing to make the sacrifices.

But I do have a mostly WFH 9-5 job, a DH who WFH and has a super flexible schedule and our families live here and help with the kids whenever needed. So I have it easier than most of my friends, despite not looking perfect all the time. Easy has many definitions.

We have friends who are extremely wealthy and she always insisted on paying whenever we did anything together. I was embarrassed and told her that it made me feel like I was sponging off her and from that day forward we would go dutch or if she paid this week then I paid the next time. She wasn't flaunting her wealth but it bothered me that she I couldn't carry my weight financially.
