Should I get a Peloton?

Imagine being stuck with a stupid subscription service for an in home bike that costs almost $2000.

There's a sucker born every minute.

I adore my Bike+ and ride it and do other types of classes every day. It's paid for itself compared to my old Orange Theory membership, and I don't have to look presentable, schedule classes, or drive 12 minutes to use it. To buy one and not use it would truly not make sense, I agree. But it's been a great purchase for my DH and I, and the price was not an issue. Sometimes I hop on in whatever clothes I happen to be wearing. In the long hours of WFH it's been perfect.

Imagine hating on people that are actually getting value out of that bike. I can’t imagine being that big of a loser focused on what others are doing.

Meanwhile, 100% chance you’ve spent $2000 on garbage take out in the last year. Let that sink in.

Totally worth every penny. I absolutely love it with teachers and music options. It has definitely improved both my physical and mental health. I don’t have the time flexibility to go to a gym.

+1 on this for me. It’s made a huge difference in my life. I’ve lost about 20 lbs (141 to 120) in the 15 months I’ve had it, but more importantly my mental health has been very positively impacted. Only regret is not getting it sooner in the pandemic.

I am loving my peloton waaay more than I ever imagined. It’s perfect. It works exactly as it should, I’m always excited to use it, and even my kids use it. To me, there’s a lot of value in it.

Yawn. The anti Peloton people on DCUM are boring and predictable, OP. Ignore.

This is a pretty common misconception. You don’t need the bike to use the subscription service. That’s part of what’s great about it; the spin classes are just a subset of a ton of great content that you can do with no equipment at all.

(But for people who love spinning, the bike is absolutely fantastic and worth every penny.)

I've used it 3-6 times a week every week (minus a few for vacation/illness) for 18 months and lost 40 pounds. People would pay a lot more than the $1,620 I have currently paid to peloton for that. $90 a month is basically a gym membership and I've never used a gym membership like I use my peloton.

I don't consider myself a sucker.

I love my Peloton and the entire platform of classes including strength and running (I take the tread classes outside and just modify). I've had mine since July 2020 and I still use it every day. I can't make it to the gym and Peloton was my saving grace for mental and physical health over the past two years and still going strong. That being said, I do have friends who bought one because of my influence and it just didn't click with them. It's not for everyone. It really depends on the style of workout you like.
