Can you send your child to Langley even if you’re not zoned for it?

If you'd bothered to read the thread, you'd know that's no longer an option. You apply for a transfer and state your reason. Then they tell you what your placement option is.

Thanks, I read a few responses only, so no, I didn’t bother to read it all. There is a $100 fee to apply…will I get it back if they say no transfers?

It's a non-refundable fee but if there's no transfer option I doubt they'd charge you.

So, for example, if you were at Marshall and wanted Japanese at Langley, they might tell you that you've been approved for pupil placement to Falls Church for Japanese. If you said you wanted Langley instead, they'd say tough and keep your money even if you turned down the transfer offer.

But, on the other hand, if you were at Marshall and wanted Russian at Langley, and they had decided to close Langley to transfers entirely for whatever reason, they might not even process the application, in which case my bet is that you wouldn't get charged.

^ The reason being that TJ and Langley are the only two high schools that offer Russian and they don't place kids into TJ to take a language, so if Langley were closed to transfers there would be no other option they could offer.
