And "my house is a mess but I am not a mess." It helps me sit with the unpleasant parts of this experience as life moves through them.

I had to stop following Dr. Becky - don't like her style.

Same here.

Harry Times (she has 5 kids and is a professor). She just seems like a nice mom, like she bakes cookies a lot and takes her kids to the library and runs them around to dance and sports and to get ice cream. But she also talks about how she gets cranky and how hard it is to fit everything into the day.

I followed one of the bloggers suggested above and she was such an oversharer that I weep for her kids. Every moment of their lives is available fro public consumption. It is such an invasion of privacy.

All right OP I’m an older millennial and I’m here to help you haha I think I had and have PPD but I don’t want to deal with it I just shut my brain get through the day and look forward to just sleeping and not being aware. I have a newborn and 4 year old.

Now blogs ain’t nobody got time for that, that’s early 2000s. TikTok is a hot mess for us older folks so that’s out too and Facebook is full of conspiracy theory boomers. So you are looking for Instagrammers, micro bloggers who do this right like you open up see a snipped of their life and it makes you feel a bit better or it gives you hope or a fun tip or something cute to buy just nonsense mommy ness because that’s parenthood.

Follow Jennie Monness and Karrie Locher (I don’t know these ppl mind you but I like them). Jennie is gorgeous but an older mom I think 37 or 38 has two kiddos and acknowledges the difficulties while giving tips but she’s also funny and you get to see NY as a backdrop. Karrie Locher is a NICU nurse and lactation consultant but she keeps it real, and is sweet and answers questions. I don’t like birds papaya it’s all about consumerism and body imagine and she dressed her daughter in a different outfit everyday since she gets stuff gifted it’s ridiculous.

I also follow dumb meme pages like mind of a dad or mytherapistsays just because it’s funny things about parenthood and life.

Big hugs and enjoy Insta

Another vote for Cup of Jo. The posts are amazing, but stay for the comments too. The comment section is genuinely useful and uplifting.

The Shu Box (doctor) a little more planning/fitness oriented than I'm interested in

Both have 3 kids and demanding jobs--interesting to see how they've made it work.

I really enjoy theshubox. My favorite mom blog.

Another +1 for theshubox. She’s a doctor with three kids under 10. She’s open about how challenging the day to day grind can be.

Not a blog, but I love the Spawned podcast. TBH it's for moms of older kids, but they have great info.

I love LagLiv. Her kids are older than mine, but it’s so nice to see my future with older kids and realize that being in the thick of the early years is such a small part of parenting.

It is a podcast, and no longer making new episodes, but I found “The Longest Shortest Time” to be fantastic about real life. I know the original host was a mom who had a difficult childbirth, not sure about PPD, but she is very real. Good luck OP. This is a tough road, and I wish you and your family good things ahead.

If you end up on instagram, consider following coupdegracefarris

She's like, head of internal medicine somewhere and draws in the evenings to relax, and I just love her stuff.

Anonymous wrote:Are blogs even a thing anymore? Try TikTok

Oh gosh. This is the OP. I'm only 37 and this comment makes me feel 87. I have never even seen TikTok. I thought it was for like teenagers??

NP. I'm 51. My teenager introduced me to TikTok during lock down. You should try it. There are a lot of teenagers, but as you search, like, and follow, your feed gets really fine tuned to your interests. I follow so many types of people: parents of kids with disabilities (like mine), several folks living with serious mental illness, women in their 50s talking about fitness, fashion, and naturally gray hair, several quirky, funny twenty somethings, lots of political things, and then some random gossipy train wreck things that are even better than DCUM because you can see the person. There are dances and memes, but unless they are really popular (or my kid sends them to me) I don't see them.

10/10, highly recommend!

LagLiv is the blog you want OP. She’s just a normal working mom and she details her real life—ups and downs. Plus she’s been blogging for over 10 years, so lots to read.

This isn’t a mom blog, it’s a webpage for a psychologist trying to sell books.
