Capital Educators vs Dr. Li’s for SAT prep

My kid took the SAT 4 times in high 1300s and then did Private Prep and scored 1520 on last one.

Extremely arrogant attitude fr Dr Li himself! very unprofessional, yelling, shouting, false accusing without invetigration.

Last summer, my child took Dr. Li’s class, and the experience was disappointing. The class was advertised as preparation for the new digital SAT, but the materials and practice tests were from the old paper SAT. For example:
• Reading passages were a full page long with 4–5 questions each, instead of the shorter passages in the digital SAT.
• Math problems often prohibited the use of a calculator, following old paper test rules.

The teachers, including Dr. Li, frequently discussed time limits and rules from the old SAT, while presenting them as if they applied to the new digital SAT. It was misleading and unhelpful.

Another questionable practice Dr. Li engages in is his review policy. After students take the SAT, he sends an email asking them to leave a review. If the student scores above 1500 and posts a review, they receive a significant portion of their tuition back in the form of a gift card. This means that when prospective students visit his website, many of the “success stories” they see are from high-scoring students who were already likely to do well—regardless of his teaching. The reviews give a skewed impression of the class’s effectiveness.

Another thing my child and I noticed is that the practice problems in Dr. Li’s class are not original. They are copied from the College Board’s official practice paper tests (college board offers printed practice tests for certain individuals with extra time etc.for the digital SAT ). We didn’t know this until after the class was done and we started taking the official online dear test. As a result, after completing his class’s practice tests, many of the questions on the official College Board online practice tests were already familiar bc they were the same ones. This ruined the novelty and usefulness of taking the official practice tests for the first time and skewed the test results for us. At over $1100 for two weeks class, it’s ridculous they were not evening writing there own questions.
