Is this how kids dress at most public high schools?

I dare you to send your kid into your local public school wearing that outfit.

Yes, it is unserious compared to the dress in that photo. Good thing serious isn't what these kids are going for.

(Also I have to applaud the carefully crafted diversity in that photo.)

That looks like some kind of professional promo shoot vs. smart phone video of kids shuffling around on a regular school day.

Ok. Hope your kid is not interested in studying science.

My girl wears a mix of Keene, joggers and occasionally her school logo PJ pants (which she has never worn to bed so they are functionally just sweats).

There are quite a bit of more mature options in-between literal pajamas and jeans. Frankly, these kids look like dirtball slobs who don't give a sh*t about themselves or how they look. It's actually disrespectful.

Dirtball slobs? Really? And disrespectful to whom, exactly? I doubt the teachers are bothered by kids wearing comfortable clothing.

As long as they are clean, and not showing too much skin, their underwear, I don't see an issue, especially since it's winter and cold.

This is how kids look in our private school as well these days while having more relaxed uniform requirement due to Covid.

I graduated from high school in the mid 90's and distinctly remember wearing Skidz pants with Champion t-shirts and sweatshirts.

This is chicago area. High school starts really early at most suburban schools--like by 7:30, meaning you are getting on the bus at 6 something in the Chicago winter.

Because it's probably the north shore suburbs of Chicago where everyone is white?

Good point. If you are going to do a uniform in chicago or anywhere cold...the girls do not have to wear those silly skirts. Pants all around. And why the ties? If the boys have to wear those, the girls should have to have to as well...but honestly...just get rid of these all around.

My magnet kid in public school isn't suffering for wearing nice sweatpants to school. DS sometimes wear jeans, too, but lately, he's been into his looks to impress a girl. Prior to this, it was 100% active wear pants and a hoodie. He doesn't have PJ pants. He wears his shorts to bed.

I have been wfh for like 10 years now, and one of the best things about it is that I can wear whatever I want, not that I had to get really dressed up for work before since I work in the tech field, but still. I love that I can wear whatever I want. I don't wear PJs, but I do sometimes wear sweatpants (like now). Super comfy. I'm glad my kids can do the same.

Not sure how that precludes you from dressing properly.

All of the anti-mask idiots I know are white. So, since this is a video of kids doing an anti-mask protest, it doesn't surprise me that they are mostly white.

Your kid is a magnet? That must be tiresome, what with all the stuff sticking to him. Is this him, or a different one?
