I see benefit of getting rid of ATS but wouldn't getting rid of HBW just make the other high schools more crowded? Maybe they could turn ATS into a second HBW-type school... They could but 600 high school students there instead of in the W&L expansion... |
There has already been a HUGE thread on how turning HBW into high school only would generate 300 additional seats in High School and relieve the other high schools, and all middle schools would remain below capacity. But never happen because sacred cow |
HBW lottery should not be opt-in -- it should make ALL students eligible, offer it to who wins and work your way down acceptances. |
Yep... because that is a great use of staff time. Do you know how long it would take to move down the list? It's not as simple as just sending an email to families. |
Agreed that is why I was suggesting a second similar school that would be high school only. |
And what would you do with the kids at ATS, send them back to crowd their home schools? |
A large percentage of them are not at crowded schools.... |
HTS would be come neighborhood school and then rebalance boundaries. Your question doesn’t even make sense. |
Ah, it's the start of a new year and the familiar discourse over HB. Hitting the rewind button and pushing start.
See you next year, same time! |
+1 I do not understand how they justify these schools at this point. |
Yes. Same as if they decided to go back to their home schools. We rezone for attendance all the time. You clearly have a kid at ATS and are suffering from cognitive dissonance on the issue. |
