Do you isolate young kids if they get Covid?

I was totally gonna isolate them, but I bought an SUV so I didn't have a trunk to properly isolate them!
Gotta go for a sedan next time.

Yes of course. Dumb OP

We have always tried to keep the patient isolated for anything worse than a cold (so flu or stomach bugs). Usually that means giving them a tablet to watch tv in their room for most of the day and giving them meals in their room. So parents come in frequently, but the other kids stay away. A couple times DH or I have even slept on the couch when the other one is sick, although I think we had so little success with that that we didn't bother. That's hard to do with little ones, though. I'm not sure how much I would try that with a two year old.

I just realized you are talking about a 10-day isolation. I would not do that to any of the kids. The only person I would isolate for even five days would be me, and that would be so I had an excuse to spend five days watching Netflix in bed by myself.

Ugh OP are you really seriously considering putting a 5 yo in a room for 10 days alone?? What’s wrong with people!? Please use your common sense. Obviously no, relative to the risk of omicron, the risk of isolating a young child for a week or more is much much greater. Would t that be child abuse? What were you planning? If your kid had any other I’ll was would you be considering this?

I really feel bad for children whose parents such as OP who have so much covid anxiety. It’s really sad and unfortunate for those children.

The best I've seen in terms of isolation was one parent isolating with the positive kid, at a hotel.

Single parents obvi can't do this.

But isolating a child by themselves for 10 days? You're basically a monster.

Ha, same! One of our twins tested positive and the other one didn't. Husband tested positive but I didn't. No idea why. We didn't quarantine anyone. We're all vaccinated and adults are boosted and I think we're all going to get it anyway so might as well do it at the same time.

Seriously?!? That is a terrible idea! How did they in good conscience check into a hotel knowing they had COVID?

we didn't. my son got a mild case and gave it to my daughter who also had a mild case. husband and i are vaxxed and i'm boosted and neither of us got it.

There are programs that suggest you do this to avoid spread. Like, from Dept. of Health.

Why would you WANT spread?

Why wouldn't you send the people WITHOUT COVID to the hotel? Why would you knowingly send sick people to a public place?

Variety of reasons. *shrug* could be fewer people in the family are with covid than are without covid. Could be needs related to the home. Regardless, it's done on a regular basis, and health departments have facilitated it by actually renting rooms for people. People with covid.
