I would add Hamilton and Grinnell. Both have an intellectual vibe without being too competitive |
Love the MN schools! Not all LACs offer ED2. Middlebury does along with Bates, Carleton, and Colby, but not the case for Amherst or Williams. |
What about Pitzer, also one of the Claremont consortium. If Oregon is on list of areas, look at Willamette. |
| DC got accepted into Williams but cost of attendance was more than we could comfortably afford so picked another top 20 school where they offered a half tuition merit scholarship to make attendance affordable. No regrets. |
OP mentioned Grinnell and Grinnell also offers ED2. |
Other than manufactured protests in a 1 block area of downtown, what struggles? Portland is like, the hottest city in north America. |
| St. Lawrence would be a good safety and he'd likely get a good amount of merit aid. Has a great econ program, lots of successful grads out there. Just north of the Adirondack Park, lots of outdoor activities, extensive study abroad options. Rural setting, small cohesive campus. |
Love Portland! Super fun city. As a safety, don’t discount Lewis and Clark if you like the Portland area. One of the most beautiful schools I’ve seen and very nice seeming student body. They offered my DD $$$, but sadly, she chose somewhere else. |
| Skidmore - cute town, solid academics, cold weather |
No - my kid ED’d to Amherst and wasn’t accepted. Ended up accepted at Bowdoin RD. |
? What struggles? Are you referring to the BLM protests? Because that's not a "struggle." |
I'm confused. I didn't think Bates or Colby were need blind. |
What does this have to do with being need blind? |
The PP said that their DC didn't really have any LAC safeties b/c financial aid was important. I assumed that meant that the DC only applied to need-blind LACs, so confused to see those two schools on the list. |
| Which nescacs are need blind? |
