Are more people opting into the APS testing?

Any adults in our 240K person community doing it? Nope. And only 18% of APS kids were doing it under the prior regime, and I'm sure it's even much, much less.

By signing up for this testing regime, you're signing up for your child to be one of the very few of the 240K people in this county subject to such COVID mitigation burden.

Burden? A 30 sec test is a burden? As opposed to the burden of spreading a virus by closing your eyes, sticking your fingers in your ears and yelling "lalalalalaa".

How rich.

Both of my kids missed a few days of school due to covid protocols despite never testing positive. We believed that they would be given opportunities to make up missed work but they were not- different schools, so not just a problem at one. We had to jump through hoops for a month to get our junior permission to retake a science test that she missed. That’s a burden, and a big one. I’d be all in like we were in the fall if the promises were true. As it is, if my kids are asymptomatic they won’t be tested and will be in school. If you don’t like the thought of that, thank the failed system.

It’s more like thanks covid. Grow up

So all systemic failures can be blamed on covid now? I’m sure lots of people will be happy to hear that. In the meantime, I’m not putting my kids in a program that will penalize them for being honest and doing the right thing. You’re welcome to stay in that program and take your chances. Good luck.

It's not "because of COVID," it's "because of APS' reaction to COVID". Big difference.

We don't asymptomatically test for the flu or rhinoviruses. God knows how often we'd test positive for them.

They got rid of that, keep up. They are still considered "fully vaccinated" even if not boosted. No quarantine if vaccinated and no symptoms.

So if you’re vaccinated child had a breakthrough case you would just let them be around other people’s children?

I'm only testing if symptomatic.

You are part of the problem. This stance is what will cause harsher guidelines. It’s a few seconds of a Q-tip up the nose it’s not anything terrible. If your child is negative it’s even less of a deal.

It’s telling that you think “a few seconds of a q tip up the nose” is the only potential price to pay for families who sign up.

No.

Data shows grown men down't spread COVID asymptomatically (link below). Why would I care if my kid or one near my kid has asymptomatic covid when their spread rates are lower than adults and have been throughout the pandemic? I literally don't understand the point. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32930584/data-shows-asymptomatic-individuals-not-spreading-covid-19-nfl-chief-medical-officer-says

Don't care one bit about a Q Tip. I care about healthy kids missing school. Asymptomatic = not sick.

It's only a matter of time before the US as a whole transitions to that mindset and stops with this crazy testing regime. Better my children don't suffer in it for the short period of time it exists.

Your opinions may be strong, but they’re not factual.

What is it telling you exactly? You seem to think I’m not a parent that doesn’t struggle with the exact same issues when their child is unable to go to school.

Nope. This is just another policy that a) continues to put the burden of this pandemic on the children and b) will result in a lot of unnecessary quarantines.

Test if and only if symptomatic.

And how would you feel if someone else’s asymptomatic child sick got your kid unwell and they became dramatically symptomatic because they were in class with the poz kid without any symptoms. You’d scream your head off.

An asymptomatic positive is 10 days out.

How would you know that’s where it came from to scream?

You should probably take a beat before wildly responding with gibberish.
