His opinions are discriminatory and he's not entitled to keep his job. |

+1 ha |
by the Boise professor, Proud Boys, religious nuts -- all part of today's R party, and gaining steam. Liberals support programs that encourage females to go into STEM; they have Emily's List to support women in politics. This guy is essentially saying we shouldn't have such programs. If you were a recipient of such programs, he's talking about you. |
Yes he is. Professors and students alike have academic freedom and the freedom to express their opinions. Boise State is a public university, so they are required to respect an individuals' free speech rights. |
Well he was talking about engineering and medical fields, but he's a political science professor, so it's unlikely he'll be grading people in those fields. Can a POC professor who teaches about white privilege fairly grade white students? |
Not true. You're allowed to have discriminatory opinions. So long as you don't actually discriminate. |
so what. a weirdo in Idaho saying something has no bearing on me. ya'll are so weird. |
Who cares about fair or unfair, the question is can the university claim he’s unbiased when his grades are challenged. Discriminatory conduct is one of the bases for challenging grades at Boise State |
He's a weirdo in Idaho speaking at a conservative conference specifically about women's place in conservatism and in the country. You self-identify as a conservative woman, so pretending it has no bearing on you is willful ignorance. And it's "y'all". In a contraction the apostrophe goes where the letters are missing. |
but a would-be lawyer would take his class. I wonder how many females major in PoliSci/law at that Univ. I certainly wouldn't feel welcome there in those fields. |
Oh, so, you were a recipient of these programs. So, yes, he is talking about you. Sure, you can just shrug your shoulders, and say, "so what"? But this is like the "shut door behind me" attitude. You got yours; screw other people. |
In his statement, replace "women" with "POC" . I wonder if he secretly thinks the same about POC, as well. |
Again, why does what one professor say at one conference in Florida have any bearing on me? |
Nope, the point is...the is ONE GUY'S opinion. I don't agree with him. Opinions are like assholes: everyone has one. You can't go crazy over every opinion you disagree with. Shrugging your shoulders and saying so what IS necessary. Unless there's some sort of evidence that this is anything more than an opinion, what exactly do you suggest I do? |
