Pro tip for merging onto a highway

OP here. I also taught my teen driver to pick a spot to merge into and to accelerate (or decelerate, if need be) accordingly. This skill is also in short supply.


This is what you should do and it's a skill most drivers don't have. I know when I get to an on ramp where I'm going to merge in. Of course if a car moves, speeds up or slows down I have to adjust but I generally know where I'm going to enter the highway.

Valid point, OP, but in heavy traffic sometimes it's not possible.
