Is your DC private mandating Covid Vaccine for 5-11, or recommending?

Lowell mandating for 12+, strongly recommending for 5-11, will mandate for 5-11 for next school year.

What school is this?

That highly not possible unless they secured all the appointments as well.

Allowing more time for parents to decide would be crucial, as more data will be available after the vaccination starts and the medical professionals are better prepared to handle complications. The trial sample is small and the "benefits outweigh risks" conclusion doesn't seem to be a consensus across developed countries. To me, waiting for more data with the masks/protocols on is better than rushing into it.

1) This is extremely new so schools may take a little time to make a decision.

2) For Sidwell, I have not seen anything one way or the other. 12+ is required already, under the EUA.

River School is requiring parents to upload proof of both doses by Friday, Dec 31.

Our big 3 will require, but they have not sorted a date yet. They want to see how the rollout goes (logistically) before they come up with a deadline.

Anselms mandated for 5-11 with deadlines. First shot before end of November and second by Jan 3rd. School starts at 6th grade so mainly impacts that grade which is mainly 11-12 yr olds. 12+ were already mandated after Pfizer got full approval for that group. Current students/faculty/staff vax rate is 94%. Curious that for 12+ they waited to mandate after full approval but for 5-11 mandating with only emergency approval. School has only had one case so far this school year and test students on site once a week.

Our SN school is requiring it

Are any of these schools mandating for other groups?

Yes! And those who are vaccinated get a lot of quarantine and mask benefits. I am afraid younger kids who choose not to be vaccinated will be discriminated at school...

So those who are vaccinated should have to still mask and stuff because some people choose not to? I have all the sympathy in the world for those few who actually cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons and accommodations should be made for them to not feel othered at school, but for anyone else who is just making a choice- oh well if your child still has to wear their mask and quarantine if exposed. You have a choice and if not vaccinating is yours, that's fine, but that choice comes with continued masking and quarantining.

Do you really think masks are going away this school year? I doubt it. Even if most kids are vaxed I think they’ll continue till the end of the school year. I hope I’m wrong but I just don’t see us getting our act together that quickly.

Our school has mandated by January 8 for all eligible students (5+), and yes, they are having vaccine clinics.

By mandated do you all mean children would not be allowed to attend school without it?
