It is probably illegal to run a business out of your townhouse under your HOA rules. You will need to check with them, but I can't imagine they would be OK with this. |
This just isn't attractive at all. I wouldnt want my babysitter to watch multiple kids in addition to her two kids. I wouldnt want the husband home. The townhouse is smaller than the house we live in, so not a lot of space inside or out. No field trips. No fence. No further education than an associates degree. How much money do you think you would get? It all just seems so pointless honestly. Unattractive for you and the families. |
OP here. Uh, okay. Most daycare teachers only have an AA. A large number of nannies aren't college educated. |
Not necessarily. Even if it's illegal, they can get the court to side with them. We need daycares now more than ever. |
This is the only thing I can find about fences and it's vague. If unsafe areas or conditions are in or near an outdoor play space, fencing or natural barriers are required to restrict children from those unsafe areas or conditions. I would need to wait until the inspector came out to tell me if I needed a fence |
Ignore this pp. |
You should call them ahead of time. |
The court is going to side against the HOA to allow OP to operate an unlicensed daycare? What alternative reality are you living in? |
I didn’t say anything about it being unlicensed. If she’s not taking care of more than 3-4 kids then she doesn’t need one, PP. |
She's in PA and their rules are different than DMV. They can care for a couple of kids w/out a license and still be legal. It's completely different than Maryland, DC and I'm not sure about VA. |
But OP has two kids of her own. That is just having one additional kid. |
My DD went to a wonderful in-home from 4 months to age 2. The provider was fully licensed and did everything by the book. Her neighbor did not like the fact that she was running a daycare and would call the county constantly on some pretext or the other. If one of your neighbors decides to do the same and you’re not licensed you’ll be in a real pickle. |
The court is going to condone illegal activities? |
Why not work at a preschool (not necessarily Montessiri)?
The pay isn't as low as you assume. You can enroll your own 2 yr old at a discount rate and you'd be home in time for your kindergartener to get off the bus at 3pm. You're overly ambitious with this daycare, babysitter, mom's day out, whatever you want to call it -type fiasco. The upfront cost and time and logistics just don't make it worth it. |
