+1 There was one forum for a while that was registered posters only and no one posted there.

There's a lot of snark, but I also find I get a level of honesty when wading through certain issues that I wouldn't get elsewhere. I learn a lot about what's going on in certain places and I feel much better making my own contributions if I know that some weirdo isn't sitting around, clicking on my username and trying to "out" me for some supposed transgression or another.
