My grandma used to butcher that name. She pronounced it knee-Oh-muh.
I think most people say nay-Oh-mee, but it’s not uncommon for people to pronounce it as nye-Oh-mee. |
I think it can be pronounced either way, so neither one is wrong. |
|
Our daughter is nay-o-mi, makes me nuts when people say ny-o-mi (sounds crass to me)
Nicknames: Omi Nay Nay-nay |
|
i know sevearl naomis. Either way and usually depends on the accent of the person saying it....
Another variation is where it comes out as Nomi. |
Nomi is also a nickname for Nomiki. |
|
Naomi is a Japanese name too... Pronounced Nah-oh-mee
|
| Nay yo me. |
no-EH-mee |
This is why we didn't name our kid Aaron. DH and I couldn't agree on pronunciation! Also, Erin for a girl was out because he said it's pronounced exactly like Aaron, and I said he was crazy. Regional accent variation.

You don't pronounce them the same? How do you pronounce them? |
Can you explain the different pronounciations? And please don't say Ay-Ay-Ron. |
It’s already a short name—no need for nicknames. |
I'm dying to know of any alternatives aside from Ayayron I am totally picturing the Key and Peele sketch
|
Haha I was thinking that but no, I pronounce Aaron as "Ay-ron" and DH pronounces it "Aah-ron." And he pronounces Erin the same way whereas I pronounce it "Eh-rin." |
Maybe he says Air-run and she says Aah-run |
