Over use or not fit enough?

No idea generally, but my 12 year old son was injured through over use. He practices with his travel team twice a week, his year round futsal team once a week, plus usually 1-2 games a week, and one session per week with his private trainer. On top of that, he is in a track club at school one day per week. He developed a stress fracture this year and it has been tough on him. He hates having to take a break from exercise.

More likely this was due to his being overweight.

He is 4'10" and weighs 77 lbs. He's not overweight.

They are learning that they don't like breaks from you, or someone else near them. You need to explain to him why he needs to take breaks. If you really want to you can use a tracking device during the day. After a while you will notice that his performance is actually going down not up with all the activity.

OMG he’s a kid! Leave him alone. If your coach is calling him unfit tell the coach to implement fitness in his practices. If he says he needs to do it on his own the do it. Kids fitness goes up and down. It’s called PUBERTY.

His form could be wrong or it could be as small as worn shoes or wrong sized shoes

No one is calling him unfit.

He's clearly unfit and overweight. Why else is he getting injured?

During puberty, erections can lead to overuse injuries. It's worth seeking professional advice.
