TJ admissions - Student Portrait Sheet

OP here. This conversation has gotten sidetracked - hoping to get it back to my original question.

The problem-solving essay is new every year. While one can prepare by practicing writing responses to past problems or other sample problems, one won't know this year's problem until the day of the exam.

The student portrait sheet, however, asks the student to demonstrate attributes of the Portrait of a Graduate. Since those attributes are published on the FCPS website, it is possible to think in advance about how one wants to address the question. As a previous poster mentioned, it makes good sense to do to some extent. It is reasonable to expect a motivated student who is applying to TJ to do the same.

In the absence of any guidance from TJ's admissions folks, it's reasonable to ask about what is permitted or prohibited with regard to the SPS. I can imagine that students will not be permitted to bring any notes with them to the writing administration, but it would be nice to have some official instructions about this.

Another question about the SPS part - so what is this essay question like? Is it something like "write about yourself and say how you demonstrate the 21st century skills, i.e. Collaborator, Communicator, Creative and Critical Thinker, Ethical/Global Citizen etc."? And this is this the same question every year?

I found some in 30 seconds. Honestly OP, what makes you think your kid has math/science aptitude if you yourself don't know how to use a search engine? Maybe ask your kid to find them for you?
