| My '21 applied to Pitt to have a rolling admission admit they'd actually not mind going to (not just a safety). I attended a zoom call where merit was discussed in depth. Last year there were 4 tiers- 5/10/15/20K. Never found anyone who admitted their kids got the 20k w/o a 35/36 ACT. My kid got offered 15K. They applied in September. Read on several forums kids with super high stats who applied in late October/Nov had no merit $. Seems they "ran out." Early bird gets the worm at Pitt. |
Fully agree. My '21 Applied and got acceptance and merit very early. Then did HC right before deadline several months later. |
To add more granularity, merit also depends on the school at Pitt. For an in-demand major like CS or pre-med/BSMD, expect to get the lowest tier. |
| My child had 35 ACT, undeclared/undecided liberal arts major and got $15k last year. Application went in late-August |
| OP here. DD got into Pitt Engineering! Fingers crossed for merit! |
Congrats! What were stats and how long did it take to get a decision? |
+1 |
Thanks! Stats are 3.975/4.452 1510 SAT. Applied Monday night and saw it on her Pitt dashboard today. She can't access her Pitt email so it might've come a bit sooner. |
Wow! Congrats! That's quick! |
Congrats! Did your DD apply for HC? |
Thanks! Yes, she did. Not sure when that decision is made. |
My kid applied to Pitt 4 weeks ago today and hasn't heard! Portal says application is complete, that's it. ugh. |
| I think it’s fair to say that those with high stats get quick replies. Those that are less clear acceptances wait longer. |
Good luck! Hope your DC hears soon! |
PP above. Mine has a 4.0 and 1450 SATs from FCPS. |
