Taking a job but still looking

Anonymous
How bad is it to take a job and then keep pursuing other opportunities? Is there a good way to handle this? I got an offer but am still waiting to hear from some other interviews for jobs I might want more and I dont know if the other jobs will come through before I have to accept or reject.

Do you, boo.

That's a tricky situation. You have to do what is best for you. The only downside can be that if you still have to interview for the other jobs, they won't look kindly on you only taking a job for a short period of time.

I'm not sure how to navigate that. If you've already interviewed for the other jobs and are just waiting to hear back, might not be as bad.

I think employers are different these days to be honest. If you can sincerely articulate and show passion/interest in your interviews that goes a long way to mitigate 'why do you want to jump so quick'.

I once was offered a position and in good conscience did not apply/take other jobs because i would've left them as soon as i cleared for the original position.

however my attitude is completely changed now to 'get yours, fuck everyone else'.

I'm in a very similar position having just gone on a final round interview for a job i need but don't want. i certainly will take the offer but will jump asap (even if its like two weeks). fuck them.

Assuming you've interviewed and are just waiting to hear back, stall the other firm. Tell them you are assessing other offers. Ask to meet the team, push that out a week or two.
Buy time.

Is there any good way to ask a company that you have interviewed with what the salary/offer would be if they extended an offer, just to see if its worth waiting for?
