Paint for baby footprints?

Anonymous
I want to have a painting with my baby's footprints. Has anyone does this? What paints are safe to use? I'm thinking acrylics might be okay since they are water-based?

Check out Michaels or AC Moore craft stores.

I did a handprint of my baby for Father's Day a few months ago. The craft stores have kits (with decorations, frames, etc.) that you can buy so you don't have to mess around too much - just add water.

FWIW - it didn't turn out that well though. It would seem relatively simple, but for me I couldn't get her palm to be perfectly flat to make an imprint (her thumb would turn in or she would wiggle too much etc.).

Then, when I finally did contort myself to get a good "flat" imprint, it wasn't pressed down hard enough (hard to describe) to turn out well.

Maybe you'll have more success with it. Good luck. I even bought the clay mold thing too and had even worse luck with that.

Tempera paints are nontoxic and come in a lot of bright colors. I saw one crafty mom do handprints, footprints and a buttprint on poster board, then frame it. Now I want to do it too!
