bread question

I have a recipe that I want to make (french toast souffle) that calls for a bakery loaf of "butter crusty bread". What is that?

Nature's Own might sell it. Publix makes a butter bread too. I would say any lighter bread vs. whole wheat.

I think it means to get a bread with an outer crust like a baguette or boule. That's what most recipes I've seen like this have called for. If you made it with sandwich bread for example it might be soupy or fall apart.

I agree with this.

Depends on the origin of the recipe. I think it is like this

Many grocery store bakeries make it.
