If I report a post/thread, does it become invisible to me?

Anonymous
Yesterday (Saturday) there was a thread that I thought seemed like a troll/sock puppet, so I reported it. A few hours later, I couldn't find it. Approx. 24 hours later, I could suddenly find it again. Do you have a certain program on the site that if a poster reports a thread, it becomes invisible to them?

The same thing happened several weeks ago--the thread itself was fine, but several posts in, someone posted something that was total spam, with a link to their website. I reported that, and again, afterwards I couldn't find the thread. I don't even remember what the original thread was about, so I haven't checked lately to see if it's visible now...

Why are you still actively seeking out these threads if they bother you enough to the point that you feel compelled to report them? It's almost like you came back a couple of hours and went hunting for it. What's that about?

I think the threads get pissed at you and are giving you the cold shoulder. I don't blame them. Sock puppets, especially, can be very sensitive and hold grudges.

We do not have a system that hides posts. When a post or thread is reported, I either move it, delete it, or leave it alone. I don't have an option to hide it.

It's my impression that when the most recent posts are removed from a thread, the thread no longer appears at or near the top of the forum. So you may have rediscovered edited threads only after new posts had been added to them.

Yes, this is correct.

In the first case, I was curious if it was indeed a troll, and if it had been removed.

In the second case, I did have an interest in what the subject was about (but not the spam post that was about 7 or so posts into the thread) so I was looking to see if there was anything added to it.
