where to go for a 4 day weekend (including travel) late May/june?

Beach with husband and 3 year old...leaving on Friday and coming back on Monday. Flying is fine. Out of the country is fine too, as long as doable (time wise).

Suggestions? I know nothing about beach places.... Not looking for "romantic time", only fun under the sun - laying around, drinking some cocktails, while my child plays in the sand and "swimming" in warm, calm water.

We are not interested in hiking, snorkeling, playing with dolphins, whatever... just the plain old stuff for 2 days (since the other two we will be getting in and out of the place I guess).

Suggestions please?

Based on your description, I suggest FL. That time of year the air and water will be warm, and there are lots of places with calm waters on the west coast - Sarasota, Sanibel, Destin. Also the flights are quick and often direct so you will get the most time in the actual location (vs Caribbean). Another option is Kiawah Island, SC.

Yes, the Sanctuary on Kiawah. Heaven on earth.

Go to Tyler Place in Vermont for Memorial Day weekend. It's the best!

OP here. Can you recommend actual resort type of hotel in FL? Or maybe just a good hotel by the beach? I prefer resort though... those with all inclusive.

Anywhere else? I just looked it up on tripadvisor and it seems like a hassle during peak times, such as memorial day weekend. And overpriced food/drink - since we won't have a car I need something inclusive, walkable to place or normal prices.

so, any other resorts in florida? With a beach - I also checked clubmed but it is a river thing? Not interested...

What's your price range?

Pensacola Beach: there are direct flights from DC or BWI, beautiful beach, great seafood, and lots of families with young kids.

There are a bunch of places that are near the hotel that are walkable and more affordable for food. Some of the restaurants will even send a taxi to pick you up free of charge. We have been during peak times mid June and July 4th and have never found it to be a hassle.
