Hello, people -- it's "Giuliani"

Just thought it needed to be said! Hate the man, but spell his name right.

OP of the other thread here, saying thanks. I can never spell his name right!

In Italian, as in English, a "g" followed by a "u" is always hard (as in "gull"). A "gi" in Italian is phonetically equivalent to a "j". Maybe that's why he was so popular in NY -- he gets two big voting blocs because he's Catholic, but when you talk about him, you always start by calling him a Jew.

You democrats are full of hate. I could read almost any post and someone is saying that "hate" something. grow up

I'll give you some more evidence (sort of). I'm a Democrat and I hate it when people make silly generalizations. Hyperbolic use of extreme words like hate (as in my first sentence) is a common mode of speech that has nothing to do with politics.

I also hate it when I feel I have to write one of these preachy notes. Shame on you for making me do it!

Let's say I don't hate Giuliani because he is a Republican.

Let's say I hate him because he is from New York City (not a part of "Real America" or the "Pro-American" part of our nation, and for sure not a small town, you betcha.)

So now what am I? Republican or Democrat?

and I hate him because he 'pals around' with pedophiles. Giuliani hired a Catholic priest to work in his consulting firm months after the priest was accused of sexually molesting two former students and an altar boy and told by the church to stop performing his priestly duties. So Giuliani is a pedophile too, I guess. Probably a terrorist as well.

Wow.
Wow.

As an Italian Jew, I find this off-putting.
But as a New Yorker, I am inclined to fuggedaboudit.

OP here. To the PP who is so concerned about my saying "hate": I lived through the Giuliani era in New York. I'm not using that word lightly. Here are some more words: he's a nightmare, a bully, and a cross-dresser.

And to follow up on another previous post: Giuliani affiliated himself with Republicans who heap hate on New Yorkers. Like the Rev. Pat Robertson who blamed 9-11 on the fact that God lifted his "cone of protection" from NY because of the liberals living there.

And I (the PP) am a NYJ who loves Italy. I'm sorry I put you off -- the "Jew" reference was just a joke about the sound of the first syllable, nothing negative about either Italians or Jews. Please don't infer anything beyond the fact that this particular New Yorker can't resist a wordplay.

Stop insulting cross-dressers by comparing them to Giuliani! They can't help it that Giuliani puts on a dress now and then!
