Strong possibility we will be out of the country for 2-3 years. We would rent our current home, but unfurnished. We would not take our current furniture to the new assignment. Do folks store long term? If so, how? Where?
Thanks! |
| We used ExtraSpace storage for a 2 month storage. YOu can go as long as you want. One issue in this area is humidity. While we made sure to get climate control (a must!!!!) which has heat in winter and A/C in summer, it seems the A/C use is lower probably than in your home and things smelled a little funky afterward (not terrible, but I am sensitive), since it is SO humid here. So I don't know what to suggest except to find a place that is known for really good climate control. You might see if you can rent your home furnished (say to an international family) and store only some things. |

PP, thanks for your post. We are contemplating retaining a storage room in the house and moving the furniture in there largely because of what you described. We are selling/donating some of the furniture because our children will have outgrown their current furniture by the time we return. So we would probably be able to fit nearly all the remaining furniture in one room.
My concern is that if I rent it furnished, will I return to dinged and stained items? |
