I have never had this happen. What have I done, and how do I avoid it?
Made a stirfry over the weekend with brown rice. Yumm. At the time I dumped a bunch of hot sauce on it (so potentially covering up the soap taste). Dumped leftover brown rice and stirfry stuff in a tupperware container (it was clean, seriously!) and stuck it in the fridge as I have done 4,683 times before. The leftover rice tastes soapy. Veg and meat components all taste just fine, like they should, but the rice is weird!! I think brown rice goes rancid, right? Would it start tasting funny? |
| The one time I had something similar, it turn out that the container had not been rinsed properly and the soap was leftover from washing the container. Are you sure the container had been cleaned and rinsed the last time you used it? |

Might be the brand. Have you used it b/f?
(I love PF Chang's brown rice. Would love to know what brand it is and if you can buy it in the grocery store.) |
| I second the container. I have a new bottle of dish soap that I hate and seems to cling to everything if I don't triple rinse it. |

Brown rice that was too old before you cooked it can taste soapy, or it can taste rancid.
Old, and been down this road before |

Reused cooked rice can give you food poisoning.
