Should I respond to "recieved your resume and cover letter" from hiring manager?

This is the first time in years that I've received a receipt of application materials confirmation from an actual person's email, and it appears to be coming from the hiring manager himself.

Is it appropriate to respond with some kind of indication of continuing interest, or would that be an obnoxious faux pas?

I would say "Thank you for letting me know. I look forward to hearing from you."

I would just say "Thank you for your confirmation email. Have a wonderful day. truly yours, _____"
