I am a woman in my mid-forties.
For the past three yrs, I have developed this little bumps on my skin. Primarily on my neck (front/back) as well as a little above my breast area. They are brown bumps...they are kinda loose and when pulled on they hurt. My mother told me they are from excess oil on the skin. How can I get rid of them? Is there anything I can buy at the drug store that will make them go away? Or do I have to have a Dr. burn them off? Thanks in advance for any and all advice given. |
| sounds like skin tags. google. |
| Yes, definitely skin tags. I go to the dermatologist to get them removed (even ones near my eyes). It takes about 30 secs for each one. Super fast. Worth the money. |
| Don't black people get these? |
| What is the cost of this, and does insurance ever cover it? |
| Probably the best person to ask is your dermatologist instead of an anonymous Internet forum. Also you should ask your insurance company. Nobody here knows your what the terms of your insurance policy is. |
| No, I don't think any insurance companies cover this. Removal is considered cosmetic. |
| 16:29 again. The cost out of pocket to have them or moles removed is about $50-$125 in my experience. |

Thanks guys!
Yes I looked it up and I do have skin tags. I have one on my eyelid and the rest under my breasts and around my neck. I read that it happens mostly to middle-aged and overweight people. I do not mind how they look cosmetically as much as how much they can get hurt if they get stuck on something then pull. Ouch. I have had this happen w/a few of my sweaters. |
| Then they might be able to remove them and have it covered by insurance. I had had one on my armpit for as long as I can remember and the dermatologist told me to chop it off with a scissors. It hurt and bled more than expected, but turned out ok. |
| I had one in my armpit removed, it was covered by I stance. I believe they are just moles that become raised due to friction - that's why they often occur I. Underarms, groin, places where skin rubs etc. |

Mine also get stuck in my tops and bras and when that happens, they hurt.
I also have one on my eyelid. While not noticeable, I hate knowing it is there. Does anyone know what causes these?? So I can hopefully avoid getting any more? thx |
| I developed a couple of very tiny skin tags on my eyelids during pregnancy. I read somewhere that it is fairly common, and related to the hormonal changes. |
They do, so do white people, Latino people, Asian people, Native American people . . . |
| My grandma does |
