April Fools' Day Prank for Kids
Submitted by Laura
If the old fake-vomit-on-the-floor trick won't fool your kid for one second, try sending him to school this April Fools Day' with a lunchbox full of plastic food. Imagine his shock when he opens his lunchbox to find a meal that's even more inedible than the cafeteria food. Just make sure to give the teacher a replacement lunch—or show up in the cafeteria with a Happy Meal to say "Gotcha!" in person.

April Fool's Day Lunchbox Surprise
I got this idea from a Family Fun article.

Your kids will think it's an ordinary bag of cheese puffs...

but when they open the bag, they'll discover:

baby carrots!

All you need to pull this off is:
individual-serving-size bags of cheese puffs
baby carrots (about 6 for each bag you're making)
glue stick
slip of paper with the note: "April Fool!"

Open the snack bags carefully. Dump the contents of the cheese-puff bags into a sandwich bag. No sense wasting a perfectly delicious snack! Use a damp paper towel to pick up any crumbs left in the bag. Add about 6 baby carrots--and don't forget the note! Then run the glue stick along the very top inner edge of the bag. Press to seal, and pack in the lunchbox!

Gentle April Fool's Day Prank: Lunch Box Switcharoo
April Fools day is just around the corner... Does your family have any traditions? Nothing too serious at our house, except that I pack a fun "prank" for lunch time! (I wonder if they will remember from last year?)

All you need are a couple of pre-packaged snacks and some double-sided sticky tape. (Note: if you don't normally put packaged snacks in their lunch, you'll want to start this a few days ahead to set up their expectations.)

Carefully open the snack bag so that the opening remains intact but separated:

Next, switch the contents or add something different, like raisins. I might even add a small trinket this year...

Next, reseal the bags with a strip of double sided clear tape. Wha-la! Instant lunch fun. If only you could be a bug on the wall to see their face when the prank is detected...

P.S. Don't worry if the packaging isn't perfect. Remember they are at lunch with a room full of distracting noisy other kids. Chances are, they'll be too into their normal lunch routine to notice subtle differences they weren't expecting...

I'm putting seran wrap over the toilet. Can't resist. They're 5 and 7 now so they'll help clean up afterwards.

It's not a lunchbox gag, but when I was a kid, my parents unscrewed all the lightbulbs. Or at least, all the ones I might use. And when I was all confused about why none of the lights would turn on, they told me that we had run out of electricity and had to wait for the next delivery.

Some fun ones Ive come across on the internet:

Bunch up TP and stuff it in the toe of the victim's shoes. They'll wonder why their shoes suddenly don't fit.

If your kids are still at an age where you lay out their clothes, then this one is perfect for you. Lay out their clothes as usual -- but use ones that are way too small. Be sure to really reinforce the idea, by telling them you think they've grown a lot overnight before they get dressed.

Tell your child he can have dessert if he cleans up his room and to come and get you when he's done. When he does, stall and have your partner run in and take all the toys out again. When you walk in, act surprised and say, "but this is still a mess!"

Everyone knows one favorite activity for the modern kid is to be on the computer. This is a prank for your video game-playing son or your Facebook gossip hound daughter. The computer will need a mouse for this trick to work. First, grab a Post-it and cut out a small square. Write April Fool’s on the paper then place it over the mouse ball or laser and the mouse will no longer work. Your child will flip the mouse over in frustration to read you April Fool’s note.

This one is for all you pet owners out there. First grab a Walky Talky and when your pet is sleeping hide it close by. Now wait in the other room. When your kid reaches down to stroke your pet, say something like, "Hey Pal! Get your grimy hands off me!"

Here are a couple of my favs:

Sew very loose (it just takes a couple!) of stitches in the cuffs of whatever hoody/coat they're wearing these days (this could also work for pants if you knew for sure they would wear them that day) - absolute hilarious watching them try to put it on while you're saying "we're late! We're late!"

Saran Wrap (secured by painter's tape) the bedroom door - they'll open the door in the morning and walk into it

Gelatin in the milk - they try to pour (looks normal) and it's solid

Switch out their drawers while they're asleep - underwear in the pants drawer, shirts in the pants door, etc.

These are just a few

I love April Fools Day!!!
