This is the second time I have ever gone to a buffet restaurant and saw a sign saying along the lines of 'food not eaten will be charged for'...wth? I can see how leaving a large amount of food uneaten is wasteful, but at the sme time, if you choose to go buffet style, you're going to have to expect that. Just a small vent.
Attempt at humor to get people to avoid overloading their plates, perhaps?
Never seen that. Sounds a little tacky.
Guess you stop going to buffet restaurants.
I saw it at an all-you-can-eat (but not buffet) sushi restaurant. they wanted to prevent people from ordering a ton of stuff all at once and not eating it. Made sense to me.
I saw it once at a sushi all-you-can-eat too. The sign said that you would be charged for rice not eaten. I guess people were taking sushi, eating the fish only, and leaving the rice. Seemed a little big brother to me.....

Crazy. I'd think they were joking...?
But this reminds me of the seafood all-you-can-eat crab places they used to have near Rehoboth where you order the all you can eat crabs but first they bring you a gargantuan platter of french fries and fried chicken (which you didn't ask for or want). Then the server waits, oh, about fifteen minutes before bringing any crabs. I guess the restaurant was hoping we'd fill up on greasy fries and soggy chicken before any crab arrived. Ugh. This happened at 2 restaurants back when we went to DE, was a few years ago, but anyway won't be going back there anymore to eat lol. |
Fairly common sign. No big deal.
