I'm 38 weeks and feel like I'm coming down with a cold. Please tell me this is a SURE sign I am going into labor, and not a sign of actually having the cold or, worse, the flu (since I haven't gotten my shot yet).
While I'm hoping, I've also had excessive watery discharge the past couple of days. It's not clear liquid (more, gag, like egg whites) but it's pretty watery and frequent. Could this be it? |
I, too, am 38 weeks and I have a cold. It really is miserable to be this pregnant AND congested. I saw the doctor earlier this week and he said just to rest a lot and take in fluids unless I was spitting up colored stuff, in which case I would need antibiotics. He assured me I was not going into labor anytime soon. The two are totally unrelated.
As far as the discharge, I've read this increases the closer you get to term. I would mention it to your doctor, but I think what you've described is normal. |
I had a baby last December and caught a horrific cold at around 37 weeks. Unfortunately, I think it's more related to the cold season than the onset of labor. I'm sure you're getting close though! |
i got a cold at 39 weeks and was just praying i'd recover before going into labor so i would have more energy. i wasn't totally well, but i forgot all about it once labor started. just try to rest a lot. it is interesting to hear about all these late colds. i also got a cold immediately upon conceiving number 2. |
I knew I was going to go into labor when I felt just like I do a day or so before my period starts. It lasted about a week, as did the diarrhea, and then my water broke.

Another pregnant person with a cold here -- i'm 36 weeks and have had a cough that won't quit for 2 weeks. Doc said that our immune systems are mildly compromised when pregnant, and therefore we're more susceptible to catching colds and they last longer.
