DC Bilingual - Feedback?

Anonymous
We have an excellent waitlist number, and I'd love to hear from anyone with experience with the school. Specifically:

- Are parents involved? Is there a good community vibe?

- Test scores are low - if you are in upper elementary, can you comment on quality of education you feel your child is receiving? Are test scores reflective of focus on Spanish and/or ESL children, or what?

- What is your child's Spanish fluency level (especially if they started with minimal Spanish exposure)?

- Can you tell me anything about aftercare?

I've searched the archives, and there is very little written about DC Bilingual.

Thanks!

We were accepted, and I'm interested to hear too. There is very little posted about this school.

Hate it. Yuck. Don't go there (says a parent with an equally good waitlist number).

Seriously? Why did you even apply?

Um...I think 14:24 was kidding since they are both in competition for a spot via wait list.

Yikes! 14:34 here - looks like I need to seriously chill out.

(Good one 14:24).

I was very impressed with the principal at the expo - smart, warm, confident, personable, nice. They had a separate presentation about their aftercare - an arts based program that sounded really interesting.

Sigh... Wish we had a better WL number...

Thank you, 14:24 for the laugh. I think we all need to have some levity in this incredibly frustrating DCPCS lottery business! (says an equally flustered parent).

On a more serious note, I'd love to hear if anyone has more information on this school.

- Overall atmosphere?
- Healthy, supportive learning environment?
- Involved parents?
- Drop off / pick up situation?
- Length of typical school day?

NP: And what's a "really good" WL # for DC Bilingual? Anyone know how far down their PK4 waitlist they went last year?
Anonymous
I posted on a different thread that #15 from PK4 last year showed up on the K waitlist this year, so I'm assuming they didn't get offered a spot last year.

I would give my front teeth for my kid to go to DC bilingual. Unfortunately, we got a terrible WL number.

No one else has any input on DC Bilingual? There are 160+ on the waitlist...surely someone has some experience with the school?

Bump!

Another bump! Really hoping to hear from some current DC Bilingual parents! And anyone with input on how far the waitlist for PK-4 moved last year would be a bonus.
