For formal events (ie seder) are nice tableclothes/platemats worth it?

am trying to decide whether to spend money on nice table linens. I have nice napkins already, and the matching table cloth is $120, and placemats are $17 each. I'm serving 9, but i have china for 12. I have a 3 yo and a 6 week old; 3yo will be at the kids table this year. i'm new to entertaining a lot (though i'm excited!). i'm glad to buy the tablecloth and placemats that are beautiful if they will last me at least several years (it's all white linen, btw). not if they'll bad after just a few uses.

thoughts??? TIA!

Seder=red wine. Nope no nice linens until the kids are old enough not to spill.
