What's s good brand if veggie burgers/ fake meats without soy?

Anonymous
I heard that quorn uses no soy but has some weird issues with the ingredients. Any other suggestions? And is wheat protein (seitan) a lot better for you? Thanks.

The problem with the vegetarian fake meats is that most of them use tons of soy and tons of gluten (wheat protein). Neither are good for you in those quantities. There is something called a sunshine burger that has better ingredients. you can find it at whole foots.

We've used the sunshine burgers in the past. They're pretty decent.

Quorn is awesome and so delicious. Soy and dairy free, it's mycoprotein which is some sort of mushroom-like protein. Love love love it. Yum!

Are you open to making your own? Someone posted or linked to a spicy black bean burger recipe maybe a year ago or so.

Check out the Loma Linda / Worthington products. Some are wheat based rather than soy.

And its a lot more than just burgers - they make hot dogs, sausage, chicken nuggets, etc

Be wary of Quorn products. Lots of stuff out there about how it causes severe reactions in some people because of the type of fungus it is.

I read that HuffPo article and it just seems like an overreaction to me.

I am the enthusiastic Quorn poster. I think, if you have potential food allergies, you need to be careful of ANY processed food - no reason why Quorn would be worse than anything else, unless you weren't thinking about the mushroom angle.

Seriously it's so good. I have tried everything and it's my favorite.

I like the sunshine burgers a lot. Also, we make our own black bean burgers sometimes, but they fall apart for me.

I love Dr. Praeger but don't know if it has soy

Dr Presger is the only one I like. Doesn't tarte
Remotely meaty but is yummy. Slogan is "where you recognize all the ingredients" or
Something like that.
