Transferring my teaching certificate from Texas to Maryland-advice?

My family is relocating to Montgomery County. I have submitted all the paperwork to transfer my teaching certificate, and just applied for the jobs I am qualified for that are posted for next year. My concern is that, besides being from Texas, I have been working in Instructional Support and at Central Office for six years without a Master's degree. I think it looks weird on my resume. I've had some great opportunities within my district, so I am hoping that helps. Any advice on navigating the MCPS system? I know there's the union thing, which will be very new to me coming from down here. How hard is it to pick up substitute and home and hospital work?

I would try asking your question on the public schools forum. Lots of MoCo peeps there. Some teachers too.

They are ALWAYS looking for home hospital teachers--- always advertising it internally, too. If ur interested in that, I'd make sure that's known. Getting ur sub paperwork is not a big deal at all, and then u get put in the pool. For subbing to actually get a decent amount if work, u have to actually get "adopted" by a school, so teachers will personally call u in to sub.
